I am a late stater. Actually when i was a teenager, i practice violin for 1 year then i left it to focus on my education. Now i am 29 again i got desire to start practice and learn violin again. Please suggest me, which violin to buy (online) which is setup and tuned and music notes and and learning software if available.I am thinking to learn in home myself from available software or music notes. is it possible or not? I hardly remember my teenage practice to violin

I have had good luck buying instruments from www.southweststrings.com. They have a top reputation. Its funny you got one answer to buy a viola. I had a former student who was my best violinist and her parents bought her a viola by mistake, so she learned to play and made honor orchestra her first year!

i used to play violin but then i stopped because i had no time for practise. My school supplied me with a violin becuase i played during school time. Once you get a hang of the strings it becomes easier to play.

I love to compose music, and recently have composed one with only first and second violin parts, the program I have wont let me compose viola, cello, or a base part(it is a demo). I want to buy a program that is easy to use. But the problem is that I need to find one that’s on sale, one that is at the very most 65$. It’s a tight budget, but if you could reccomend a program please tell me of it, thank you.

I use finale notepad. The most basic version is free, but they have upgrades for pretty good prices.

I’m learning the violin right now.. does anyone know where I can buy a good violin in the Philippines? Or should I say a violin shop?

I know you have asked this before so this time I had a good look for you. I cannot find anything with google and I even tried the Philippines yellow pages….no violin shops. I find this hard to believe.

I could only find a large music shop. Normally I do not recommend buying off a general music shop because they do not know how to set up violins correctly. However, in the absence of a proper violin shop you may have to do just that.

I’m wanting to find a effects pedal that will make my electric violin sound like an electric guitar, sounding like for example Ozzy, System of a down ect… Also I’m hoping to find this at a good price.

distortion. you might want to try then all out, because i don really know which one would fit a violin. i recommend BOSS ds-1, or an MXR distortion.

How it sounds is the most obvious answer – but not the only one. Because a good violin that has been sitting for a while without being played will sound flat and the tone will be dull.

If you find a fiddle with good wood and carpentry, precision in the placing of the sound peg (inside) if the fingerboard looks good – find out if it has been played a lot and recently. If the answer is no, some sellers will be willing to let you return it after six months if the tone does not come alive – or you can takea chance and try bargaining down the price.

Obviously, the final factor is the sound – but how it sounds when you first play it may not tell the whole story.

And by the way – cheap violins can sometimes be very good, and expensive violins can be very bad. Price does not always tell the story either.
