How much money does it cost to buy a violin (No rents please)?

on November 3, 2009

I don’t want like a super awesome violin, just one i can get at a local store. Also, i looked at the store AMAC, wondering if they sell violins and if they are, are they any good? I saw some on ebay going for about $50 which I’d take but don’t really know if its gonna be a good violin. I researched some prices and found about $80-200 for a violin.

Like you saw in those sites, violins can range from 50$ to a million(which are very rare but are out there) It really depends on how good you are which decides which violin you buy. If you r a beginner, then just get like a 150$ one. However if you have been playing for more than 5 years, then I would suggest at least a thousand $ violin. This may seem like a lot but it rly isnt if you want to get a decent violin that will rly bring out your tone. The violin you found on Ebay is probably in rly bad shape n I wouldn’t suggest it. If you are happy with a 200$ violin then I say go for it.

i agree with Shaun G. Also, unless you’re a beginner, don’t ever buy a violin online without trying it first.

I suggest that you do not buy a violin off the internet but instead go to a shop or something and buy one. I highly suggest Eastman Strings, its a great company that makes quality instruments. Don’t pay anything less than $600 for a violin. Anything cheaper might break, and it will save you from taking trips to a repair shop all the time. And it will probably end up costing you more with all the fixing and such.

a $50 violin wont be worth shit! excuse my language. i got mine for $300… and it is AMAZING… but it was on sell at a music festival. it would normally be like $1000 dollars. most super awesome violins will be $1000+. there is no getting around that. finding a violin like mine is RARE.

    hope i helped!
