You may want to try a site like musicalmart.net. They have very nice beginner violins starting at about $50. We bought one for our daughter from there and she has had it since she has had it for about 3 years with absolutely no problems. The sites that were recommended already have violins that are in the hundreds and even thousands of dollars range. I would personally stay away from that when it comes to finding a violin for a beginner especially when the beginner is 8 years old.
