Let me say that it is not worth it. I had to get a new bridge, new strings, new bow, which alone ran me about 70. The violin before I had work done to it was almost unplayable, as the tune and sound was somewhat sour. After I had work done to it, it sounded better, good enough to practice on, but definitely not acceptable for performing. I would honestly suggest just renting one out monthly to see if you like it.
