Actual pit orchestra sheet music for musicals?

on October 1, 2009

Are there any websites that have pit orchestra sheet music for free or for sale? I’m not looking for sheet music books for certain instruments. Example: the violin sheet music book for Phantom of the Opera is just the melody of the songs, not the actual orchestra playing in the background. Any ideas on how I can get a hold of this and preferably for one certain part and not the whole orchestra?

Thanks!

If you are in the US the rights are held by The Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization, they hold all the Webber shows, this would be the only place you could obtain original orchestra parts in the US

But they only will release rights if they are getting royalties for your performance.

I would suggest using a transcription service if you get nowhere with R&H

The vast majority of the PARTS for the pit players are available on RENTAL ONLY – you pay for the rights to put on the show, they send you the books- and none too soon, either!

Your question seems to be contradictory – do you are don’t you want PARTS?
